The Maggi Diet is often confused with the general broth diet due to its name. However, the basis of the diet we will consider in this article is not broth, but eggs and grapefruit.

The name "Maggi" is the result of a word being mispronounced. In the original version, it was called "Maggie", a diminutive form of the name Margaret. According to rumors, this diet is due to the appearance of Margaret Thatcher. According to the popular version, the original weekly version of this diet was developed especially for Thatcher at the famous Mayo Clinic.

Although it is not known whether the legendary prime minister resorted to this method of weight loss, even after making significant changes to the original version, the diet is strongly associated with this woman. According to rumors, a sheet describing the technique was kept in Iron Maggie's documents for many years.

General principles

Maggi's diet is 4 weeks, during which time some fans have managed to lose 10-12 kg. The composition of the food is not small and includes a sufficient amount of meat, vegetables, fruits, etc. Thanks to such a variety of diets, those who follow this diet do not feel serious anxiety. In addition, the menu provides you with a full meal, which prevents a decrease in performance, lethargy and fatigue.

However, this system ensures strict adherence to the smallest details. The rules of the diet are as follows:

  • It is necessary to strictly follow the meal schedule, eating rules and their quantity;
  • If the diet does not include a portion of the product, you can eat it without restrictions;
  • Product replacement is unacceptable, even if the replacement appears to be of equal value;
  • If your diet accurately determines the amount of product, you should eat it even if you do not want to. You can reduce the portion of food by reducing the amount of products that are not strictly specified;
  • Violation of the diet is considered a deviation of at least half a day from the recommended diet. If you do not manage, the diet can not be continued where you left off. We have to start from the beginning;
  • To strictly follow the recommendations, it is better to prepare food 1-2 days in advance and keep it in separate containers in the refrigerator. In this case, you just need to open the fridge and pick up the box you want;
  • It is important to drink fluids. You should drink 2 liters of clean non-carbonated carbonated drinking water per day;
  • In addition to water, you can drink tea and coffee without sugar and milk. These drinks are not included in the calculation of the liquid consumed. To sweeten them, you can use a sweetener with 0 calories. A zero-calorie diet is allowed to drink soft drinks;
  • Salt and other spices are allowed. However, you should try not to overeat;

Third week

  • Monday:During the day you can eat any fruit except mango, dates, bananas, figs and grapes;
  • Tuesday:any vegetable at any time except potatoes;
  • Wednesday:any fruit and boiled vegetables subject to Monday's ban;
  • Thursday:fried or boiled fish, cabbage or green salad, boiled vegetables;

Fourth week

The following products should be distributed throughout the day. Nothing is allowed to be added.

  • Thursday:half fried or boiled chicken, 3 tomatoes, 1 cucumber, 1 toast, 1 grapefruit or orange;
  • Friday:2 boiled eggs, lettuce, 3 tomatoes, 1 grapefruit or orange;
  • Saturday:2 boiled chicken breasts, some cottage cheese or cheese, 1 toast, 2 cucumbers, 2 tomatoes, whipped milk, 1 grapefruit or orange;

Original Maggi Diet by Margaret Thatcher

The original meal plan, which played a key role in creating a modern diet, consisted of only one menu for a week. After this period, the course must be repeated. In addition, there were some special conditions that were subject to change:

  • On most days of the diet, only clear, still water and a limited number of other beverages are allowed;
  • A glass of whiskey was allowed on the days when meat was allowed. The rest of the time, alcohol is strictly forbidden;
  • If the portion size is not specified, the amount of food is determined at the discretion of the weight lost;
  • The duration of the diet should not exceed 4 weeks.

Contraindications and side effects

There are practically no contraindications to this diet. The only thing you need to pay attention to is that it cannot be recommended for pregnant women and people who are allergic to any of the products provided by the regimen.

However, remember that any changes in diet should be agreed with your doctor. This is especially true if you suffer from any chronic illness or are taking special medications.
